Portrait Session Wardrobe Guide: Crafting Timeless Elegance
Your portrait session is a canvas, and the wardrobe you choose is one of the most essential brushstrokes. Whether you’re capturing the grace of a fine art portrait, the vibrancy of a newborn’s first days, or the enduring beauty of a woman’s strength and individuality, your attire sets the tone. Here’s how to curate the perfect wardrobe for your session.
Fine Art Portraits:
Fine art portraits are about evoking timeless elegance and emotion. Think opulence, texture, and light play. The Rococo style leans into delicate pastels, gold accents, and intricate details, while Rembrandt’s influence is rich with dramatic shadows and deep, earthy tones.
What to Bring:
Fabrics: We have tons of fabrics for custom looks
Accessories: Pearls, gold jewelry, and heirloom pieces elevate the narrative of your session. Our client closet does have some you can mix and match as well!
Props: Consider using our ornate mirrors, antique books, candelabras, or floral arrangements. Bring with you any items you have that fit your session theme goals!
Wardrobe Tips:
Opt for soft pastels, creams, and whites for a Rococo-inspired look. Pair with gold accents for a regal touch.
For a Rembrandt-inspired session, choose deep blues, burgundies, and greens paired with earthy neutrals.
Shine enhances the fine art aesthetic—metallic fabrics or subtle embellishments can catch the light beautifully. The more sparkly the better!
Girl we have tons of wigs too if you really want to step into 'character' mode!
Themes to Consider:
Victorian Elegance: Corseted dresses, high collars, and dramatic hairstyles.
Golden Hour Glow: Flowing gowns with shimmering details in warm light.
Renaissance Revival: Capes, draped fabrics, and textured backdrops.
Female Portraits: Celebrate Strength and Grace
Portraits of women should reflect your unique journey. Whether you’re aiming for ethereal or bold, your wardrobe can highlight your personality and bring depth to the story you’re telling.
What to Bring:
Outfits: Flowing dresses, tailored blazers, or sleek jumpsuits. Bring pieces that make you feel confident and comfortable. You will have access to our client closet to mix and match as well!
Shoes: Neutral-toned heels or elegant flats work well; bare feet can also add a grounded, natural feel. We have shoes here unless you have some statement piece shoes don't worry about buying extras.
Accessories: Delicate earrings, statement necklaces, or scarves to complement your outfit choices.
Wardrobe Tips:
Whites and creams create a clean, timeless aesthetic, while bold colors like emerald green or sapphire blue make a striking impact.
Avoid heavy patterns; solid colors photograph best and keep the focus on you.
Incorporate textures like lace or tulle to add dimension to your look.
Themes to Consider:
Minimalist Muse: Clean lines, monochromatic outfits, and sleek styling.
Romantic Dreamer: Flowing fabrics, soft curls, and floral elements.
Bold and Powerful: Strong silhouettes, rich colors, and confident poses.
