Seventy-Five Hats, Six Big Hearts, and One Grateful Maker

There’s a moment in every handmade project where you look at the pile in front of you and think, Damn… I really did that.

That moment hit me the other day while staring at seventy-five finished hats, all stitched, shaped, and created by hand, all destined for people who’ve been struggling through the cold. Some are unhoused, some are just barely hanging on, some are navigating life storms nobody sees. But every single one deserves warmth, dignity, and something soft to hold onto.

And those seventy-five hats?
They didn’t happen alone.

They happened because six incredibly generous humans decided to pour a little love into our yarn fund. They turned their dollars into color, fiber, texture, and warmth. They kept my hooks moving and the yarn flowing. They said, “Yes, Ash, this matters, keep going.”

To those six donors:
Thank you. Truly. You helped wrap seventy-five heads in warmth this season. You turned compassion into something touchable. You made a difference in a way that’s practical, immediate, and beautifully human.

And now, with honesty and zero guilt:
I’m tapped out.
My hands, time, and yarn stash have reached their limit. This chapter of the project is complete, and I’m letting it rest right here, on this page, in this moment, with pride instead of pressure.

I’m leaving this post up so the work doesn’t disappear into the digital void. This little corner of the internet can hold the story: the hats made, the people helped, the donors who stepped in, and the warmth that spread farther than any of us could measure.
