"I Can Never Pick a Favorite Session." A Client's Experience

"I Can Never Pick a Favorite Session." – A Client's Experience at Ash & Thistle Artistry

One of my favorite things about photographing someone more than once is watching them discover new sides of themselves.

Recently, one of my clients shared this in our private community:

"I've had a couple of small sessions with Ash. Every time, I think 'this one is my favorite' and then I do the next shoot and can't decide which one is my favorite.

I love that she captures multiple sides of me (and her other clients). Some fierce, some joy, then happy or contemplating, to confident or serene. Her guidance in how to pose and breathe takes all the guesswork out of the session.

The Moth Muse sessions were so fun and different. I'm sad that they're over."

ohio boudoir and fantasy photography

Reading messages like this reminds me why I don't believe a boudoir or fantasy session should be about looking one specific way.

You're allowed to be soft.

You're allowed to be powerful.

You're allowed to laugh halfway through, cry if emotions show up, or completely disappear into a fantasy world for an hour.

Most people tell me before their session, "I have no idea what I'm doing."

That's okay.

You don't have to.

My job isn't to tell you to "look sexy." It's to guide you through every pose, every breath, every expression, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or whether you're doing it "right."

And if you come back for another session?

We'll create something completely different.

Because you're more than one version of yourself.

That's one of the reasons so many clients return year after year, they don't outgrow the experience. They discover another side of themselves waiting to be photographed.

If you've been thinking about booking a fantasy or boudoir session but worried you won't know what to do, know this:

You don't have to arrive confident.

You just have to arrive.

I'll take care of the rest.
